British electric motorcycle manufacturer Arc unveiled its first Vector EV model in 2018 at Italy's EICMA Motorcycle show in Milan. He called it the most premium, advanced and individual zero-emissions motorcycle the world has ever seen. After recovering from the "financial troubles" of 2019, Arc has announced that it is finally ready to release the first ten limited edition Vector Angel Edition (AE) prototypes to ten lucky customers.Although the futuristic design of the Vector Angel Edition is certainly not lacking in exotic details, what caught the most attention was what Arc calls a "groundbreaking human-machine interface" (HMI).It is a system that enhances the riding experience by connecting the rider with the motorcycle and its environment through a hi-tech helmet and matching riding gear.According to Mark Truman, founder and CEO of Arc, in addition to increasing the enjoyment of riding a motorcycle, this system can save the lives of motorcyclists. Also under consideration is "the possibility of connecting to the Internet of Things and integrating AR (alternate reality) technology into systems like this, which will make riding a motorcycle much safer," Truman explained. When ten customers receive their fully customized Vector Angel Edition electric motorcycles, each will go through a testing program to put the HMI system to the test on race tracks in the US and UK.After that, Arc wants to upgrade each edition of Angel with a beta version of the HMI for ten clients to test on public roads. The AE program will last approximately two years, during which time Arc will begin offering the HMI system in its motorcycle lineup from approximately 2024 to early 2025. The Arc HMI system consists of the Arc Zenith helmet and the Arc Origin body armor. The Zenith helmet has Wi-Fi connectivity, voice activation and a built-in head-up display (HUD) that displays speed, sat nav and data from the helmet's standard reversing camera. The live HUD video feed will also display the position and speed of other vehicles on the road. The Arc Zenith helmet even works as a wireless key, activating the Vector motorcycle's keyless start function once the rider is on it.The second part of the HMI interface is the Arc Origin device. It's an armored motorcycle jacket tailored to each Vector motorcycle owner, laced with haptic audio-type sensors in "sensitive spots" that provide alerts and subtle feedback. For example, the system will vibrate the shoulder area to alert the rider to oncoming vehicles or other road hazards. It also has a sport mode that reads G-force values from the bike's sensors and transmits feedback to the driver.Haptic feedback can be turned off if needed. The clothing also features a Euphoric mode that plays music through haptic sensors and simulates bass tones using the Origin's built-in amplifier. The Vector is made of carbon composites and a custom-made battery module monocoque. It has carbon swingarms front and rear with custom Ohlins shocks and powerful Brembo brakes. The weight is only 220 kg, which, according to the manufacturer, is the best power-to-weight ratio of all electric motorcycles.Official specifications haven't been released yet, but the company has revealed some impressive numbers. The Vector can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.1 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h.The equipment includes a 16.8 kWh Samsung battery, which enables a range of up to 320 km in the city and approximately 190 km on the highway.Arc Vector Angel Edition and participation in the AE HMI program will cost $135,000.Created by For Best Clients, s.r.oHosting services are provided by WebSupport, s.r.o© 2020 all rights reserved • Nextech: 2644-6804
